Interface Effects on Data Input Performance Using Web Forms

چکیده

The dramatic growth in Web-based data input interfaces by businesses, organizations and governmental entities, has in a few short years produced a paradigm shift in the manner in which individual data makes its way into data stores. The potential increase in error resulting from that change is unaccounted for in the Information Systems literature. In this study, a theory is presented in which the connection between the individual, the interface, and the context (or task) is explicitly modeled, building on the person-artifact-task theory of Finneran and Zhang (2003). Particular attention is paid to complex data constructs, conceptualized as data objects within the computer system and mapping to latent cognitive representations held by the user, which may be represented using graphical and/or audible paradigms within the Web-based data input interface. It is expected that such representation will increase the accuracy of data, reduce input errors, and improve performance.

A natural language interface for information retrieval from forms on the World Wide Web

This paper presents an approach for retrieving information from forms on the world wide web from natural language input. The structured nature of the form can be utilized to process natural language input for querying data sources on the web that provide form interfaces. Since the valid values for each field can be determined from the form itself or by a user of the form, the form can be filled...

Comparison of Clustering Methods over a Hidden Web Data using Stratification

This paper’s centre of attention is on the problem of data mining (in general) and clustering (in specific) on a hidden web data. We know that data mining is a process that analyzes and extracts knowledge from large amounts of data which provides useful information to users. Hidden or deep web data is the database located at remote system .So, to access such data, we need query interface or HTM...

A web portal for classification of expression data using maximal margin linear programming

The Maximal Margin (MAMA) linear programming classification algorithm has recently been proposed and tested for cancer classification based on expression data. It demonstrated sound performance on publicly available expression datasets. We developed a web interface to allow potential users easy access to the MAMA classification tool. Basic and advanced options provide flexibility in exploitatio...

Encapsulating Multi-stepped Web Forms as Web Services

HTML forms are the predominant interface between users and web applications. Many of these applications display a sequence of multiple forms on separate pages, for instance to book a flight or order a DVD. We introduce a method to wrap these multi-stepped forms and offer their individual functionality as a single consolidated Web Service. This Web Service in turn maps input data to the individu...
